One of the reasons that I love turning ordinary pretzels into this pink, red and white treat is for how easy it is to make. You’re not cooking or baking anything. Instead, you’re heating up various candy melts in the microwave, dipping the pretzels and putting them in the refrigerator to set. In about 30 minutes you’ll have gone from plain pretzels 🥨 — we’re using twists but you could do it with rods, too — to a great snack that’s perfect for a party.
Again, this recipe uses candy melts that you can buy at a craft store or even online at Amazon. There is no chocolate at all in this recipe. However, that’s not to say you couldn’t mix things up by using white chocolate, milk chocolate or dark chocolate in place of the candy melts. Maybe you have some leftover from make this chocolate chip cookie fudge and want to use it up? Really, all you’re doing is heating the candy to its melting point and then dipping the pretzels in the candy liquid. What could be easier than that?

Ingredients Overview

Step-by-Step Instructions
Cover a baking sheet or another dish in parchment paper. Set aside.
Empty the three different color candy melts in three separate microwave-safe bowls. You’ll be putting them in the microwave separately and heating in 20-second increments, stirring in between. Continue heating for 20 seconds and stirring until the candies have melted into a liquid consistency. Do one color at a time.
Once one color is melted, dip half of your pretzel twist in the melted candy. Place on the parchment paper-lined pan or dish. The candy hardens fairly quickly so decorate right away with sprinkles, colored sugar or whatever edible decorations you’ve chosen. Continue on until you’ve used up each of the different colors and decorated all of the pretzels.
Place decorated pretzels on the parchment paper-covered pan in the refrigerator for 30 minutes. Remove when candy has hardened. Serve and enjoy.

Notes
Alternatively, you can double dip your pretzels rather than decorating them with sprinkles and colored sugar. So heat up one of the candy melt colors until melted, then dip your pretzel in the color. Let it sit. Then heat up a second of the candy melt colors until melted, and dip a portion of the already candy-coated pretzel in the second color. Leave enough room so that the first color shows on the edges of the second dip. You can even try a third color if you’re up to it for tri-colored dipped pretzels. Or you can dip one side of the pretzel in one color, let it dry. Then dip the other side of the pretzel in another color.

Note: if you’re doing the double or triple dipping, start with the white candy melts. If you start with the darker pink or red, their color may bleed through when you put white on top.
